About The Role
We are looking for a lawyer with 8–12 years of post-qualification experience (PQE) to provide hands-on legal support across a broad range of banking and financing matters, including syndicated loans, bilateral credit facilities, project financing, and treasury support within the banking legal function.
This role is suitable for candidates who have the experience, aptitude and potential to evolve into a leadership position
Key Responsibilities:
- Advise on all legal aspects of banking and financing transactions, including syndicated and bilateral loans, revolving credit facilities, trade finance, guarantees, and letters of credit.
- Review, draft, and negotiate financing documentation, including term sheets, loan agreements, intercreditor agreements, security documentation, and waivers/amendments.
- Play a key role in project financing programs undertaken by the Group.
- Support internal stakeholders (e.g., Treasury and Finance teams) on banking relationships, financing structures, and debt compliance matters.
- Ensure alignment with internal risk, compliance, and corporate governance frameworks.
- Provide legal input on corporate funding strategies, refinancing and debt structuring mechanisms.
- Manage relationships with external counsel and coordinate legal support for cross-border transactions.
- Monitor developments in banking and finance laws and regulations that could impact the group, and proactively advise relevant functions.
- Assist with intra-group financing and intercompany loan documentation, ensuring tax and transfer pricing compliance.
- Support the negotiation of financial covenants and liaise with lenders and financial institutions as needed.
Experience Required:
- Law degree from a reputable university, and qualified to practise in a common law jurisdiction.
- At least 8 to 12 years' PQE dealing with banking and finance transactions.
- Experience with complex loan documentation and understanding of lender-side and borrower-side issues.
- Proficient in English (verbal and written); working knowledge of Chinese / Mandarin and/or Bahasa Indonesia is an advantage.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and take ownership of matters; potential to lead a function will be an advantage.
- Detail-oriented and organised.
- Sound analytical skills and good verbal and written communication skills.
- Able to prioritise and perform under pressure.
- Willing to contribute know-how and be a proactive, collaborative team player.
- High integrity and able to maintain the highest standards of confidentiality.
