About the International Privacy & Data Protection Department
The International Privacy & Data Protection Department is dedicated to ensuring that the company's products and services comply with relevant data privacy and protection laws. Our team works closely with product and internal teams, researching international data privacy laws, supporting product operations, and providing internal data privacy training. We are committed to upholding privacy and regulatory compliance.

Tencent is seeking a senior global privacy attorney to advise on all aspects of Tencent’s privacy compliance program. This role involves providing legal advice related to privacy, developing policies, conducting risk assessments, enforcing privacy requirements, and ensuring compliance with global privacy laws and best practices.

• Provide privacy legal advice and support to Tencent’s global business units.
• Advise on compliance with global privacy laws, including data protection, security, and breach regulations.
• Develop and implement programs to ensure compliance with international data privacy standards such as GDPR, CCPA, and PDPO/PDPA.
• Manage outside counsel for privacy law projects.
• Draft, review, negotiate, and manage legal and commercial documents.
• Analyze global privacy legal requirements and keep stakeholders informed of new laws and regulations.

Who We Look For

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school in the US, Canada, or equivalent from another jurisdiction (preferred).
• Qualified lawyer with at least 4 years PQE, with experience in law firms and/or in-house roles.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
• Certifications like CIPP/E, CIPP/US, and CIPM are preferred but not mandatory.
• Experience with international privacy issues and designing global privacy compliance programs is a plus.
• Interest in internet and cloud services.
• Strong problem-solving, analytical, and organizational skills.
• Proactive, independent, and good interpersonal and communication skills.
• Fluent in Mandarin Chinese and English (both written and oral) to work with international and HQ stakeholders.
