Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA), University of the Arts Singapore, an esteemed arts institution with a global reputation, seeks a passionate Senior/Lecturer at the School of Design & Media (SDM).

Visual storytelling is crucial in preserving our legacy. By equipping students with fundamental skills in visual literacy and storytelling, SDM empowers them to capture meaningful experiences and narrate these stories effectively.

We foster critical thinking and reflection, enabling students to explore design complexities and socio-cultural perspectives with confidence. Graduates will master communication and technical skills to excel in various sectors or design fields, creating impactful content for the present and future.

Roles and Responsibilities

The incumbent will teach and supervise topics related to film, television, digital production, immersive media, and more. Responsibilities include:

  • Teaching 20-24 hours per week in design and media, including facilitating interdisciplinary practice;
  • Designing and developing module/teaching materials;
  • Participating in curriculum review and academic activities;
  • Maintaining records of students' progress, performance, and attendance;
  • Supervising and assessing student work and projects.

Administrative duties include:

  • Mentoring students and providing pastoral support, identifying high-risk cases, and referring them as needed;
  • Offering career guidance and Industry-Based Learning supervision;
  • Organizing activities like industry collaborations, exhibitions, talks, and events;
  • Building links with industry and institutions to promote academic and practical engagement.

You will also stay updated on teaching practices, contribute to research, and teach across courses within the School or the wider Academy as needed.

Requirements

Applicants should have at least a master's degree in design, media, or related fields, with a minimum of 8 years' academic and/or industry experience. Proficiency in relevant applications and platforms is required.

A strong research or practice record, ability to perform in a fast-paced environment, problem-solving skills, and excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
