Job summary

Open Government Products (OGP) is an experimental technology team within the Singapore Government. As a Senior/Lead Software Engineer on the SGC team, you will design and build secure, high-reliability systems that operate at national scale, spanning frontend, backend, and cloud infrastructure.

You’ll drive architecture, set engineering standards, and shape long-term technical direction for critical public platforms, while mentoring engineers and delivering impact with real-world public benefit.

Open Government Products (OGP) is an experimental technology team within the Singapore Government. We build technology for public good - creating products that directly improve the lives of millions of people in Singapore.

The Team

In 2024, over S$1.1 billion was lost to scams in Singapore. Victims range from elderly folks losing their life savings to young professionals deceived through increasingly sophisticated government impersonation scams. Public education alone is no longer enough. Preventing scams at scale requires trusted infrastructure, secure communication systems, and technology that can stay ahead of rapidly evolving threats.

The Secure Government Communications (SGC) team builds systems that help Singaporeans distinguish legitimate government communications from scams.

Our products include:

• Postman - a secure messaging platform that enables government agencies to communicate officially and safely with the public
• Gov.sg Sender ID - Singapore's unified trusted sender identity for government SMS communications

These systems sit at the intersection of security, reliability, identity, and public trust - serving millions of citizens and supporting critical national communications infrastructure.

About the Role

As a Senior / Lead Software Engineer on the SGC team, you'll design and build secure, high-reliability systems that operate at national scale.

You'll work across the stack - from frontend experiences to backend services and cloud infrastructure - helping shape the architecture, engineering standards, and long-term technical direction of critical public platforms.

This role is ideal for engineers who enjoy high ownership, solving complex technical problems, and building products that have meaningful real-world impact.

As a Senior Engineer, you will additionally:

Strong software engineering fundamentals and experience building production systems.

Experience with modern web and cloud technologies such as:

• CI/CD pipelines
• Infrastructure as Code (IaC)
• Git-based workflows
• Cloud deployments and observability

Experience operating systems in production and debugging real-world reliability issues.
