Job description

Job Description:

The Optics and Imaging Systems (OIS) Group is a one-stop provider of automated optical and non-optical inspection technologies. The Group carries out collaborative research with academic institutions, co-develops equipment and devices with companies, and provide technical services and training to the manufacturing industry.

The candidate will work closely with senior colleagues within OIS to enhance the Group's Artificial Intelligence (AI) development capabilities in the following areas,

    Customised inspection systems for real time detection in production lines
    Advanced imaging-based inspection equipment for quality control in manufacturing
    Bio-imaging, detection and analysis for digital pathology and diagnostic

The key roles & responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

    Design of training methodology and development of AI modules in the following areas,
      Segmentation of target objects in images with strong background noise,
      Detection and categorization of multi small objects in large image,
      Recognition of irregular complicated pattern/structure
    Design of training strategies for high accuracy detection with small sample size including research for auto selection of valid training images within a larger image population
    Evaluation of commercial and open-source tools for AI, deep learning and related technologies
    Assist in training courses in AI-driven image processing and analysis with AI technology

Job Requirements:

    Bachelor's degree in Artificial Intelligence, Software Engineering, or relevant computing engineering
    Machine Learning and Deep Learning Expertise:
      Proficiency in frameworks like TensorFlow, PyTorch, or Keras.
      Experience with convolutional neural networks (CNNs), object detection models (e.g., YOLO, Faster R-CNN), and segmentation models (e.g., U-Net, Mask R-CNN).
      Familiarity with transfer learning and model optimization techniques
      Ability to work with large datasets, including data augmentation and annotation.
      Experience with tools like Labelbox, CVAT, or SuperAnnotate for labeling.
      Knowledge of deploying models in production environments (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes, TensorFlow Serving).
      Familiarity with edge deployment (e.g., NVIDIA Jetson, TensorRT) for industrial applications.
    Computer Vision Knowledge:
      Strong understanding of image processing techniques (e.g., filtering, edge detection, feature extraction).
      Experience with OpenCV, PIL, or similar libraries.
      Knowledge of 3D vision and point cloud processing.
    Programming Skills:
      Proficiency in Python
      Experience with C++ for performance-critical applications
      Familiarity with software development best practices (version control, testing, debugging)
    Good verbal and written communication skills and strong interpersonal skills in engaging peers and management.
    Self-motivation, ability to adapt to change and use initiative, proactive team player mindset are highly desirable traits
