We are looking for a team player who will be contributing to Singapore Polytechnic (SP)’s communications function with a primary focus on branding, corporate communications and media relations.
[What you will be working on]
Responsibilities:
- Partner with key internal stakeholders to develop narratives, key messages and content and communicate them on the most appropriate communications platforms and channels.
- Manage media publicity efforts and activities, including drafting media releases, pitching newsworthy stories, facilitating media interviews, addressing media queries, planning and organising media engagement events, and supporting crisis and incident management work.
- Address media queries and facilitate media pitches and interviews (and after-working hours engagement with media is expected).
- Daily monitoring of print, online and broadcast media for compilation in the Daily News Report to be sent to senior management.
- Analyse trends and data to provide insights to promote and safeguard SP’s reputation in a disciplined, coordinated and consistent manner.
- Guide schools and departments on SP brand application matters on campus, SP events and publicity platforms.
- Produce and submit an annual report in a timely manner to the Ministry of Education (MOE) and parliament as part of statutory requirements.
- Work with appointed agencies and/or vendors to design and produce brand assets for SP as part of SP’s ongoing corporate branding efforts.
The appointee may also perform the following tasks:
- Play an active supporting role in events like the SP Open House and First Steps With SP, which are major annual outreach events led by the Department of Communications.
- Provide administrative or project support, such as representing the department in internal and external project committees.
- Be versatile to provide support across the various communications work streams, in addition to your primary and secondary roles.
[What we are looking for]
Requirements:
- Preferably with at least 2-3 years of relevant working experience. Fresh graduates with a keen interest in pursuing a career in communications are welcome to apply.
- Good understanding of the local media landscape
- A strong working relationship with local media is a bonus.
- People-oriented individual with excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
- Self-driven, independent and possess readiness to work as a team
- Able to multitask and work with tight deadlines
- Creative and energetic individual with an eye for detail
- Adaptable and enjoys engaging and interacting with people
Successful applicant will be offered a 2-year contract in the first instance.
