Job summary

A*STAR - Agency for Science, Technology and Research is seeking a Semiconductor Equipment Technician to perform first line troubleshooting, execute scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, and ensure high equipment uptime in a rigorous cleanroom environment.

You will interact with process control teams and vendors, follow SOPs and EHS standards, and contribute to continuous improvement projects. The role requires shift work, including weekends, and strong attention to detail.

Qualifications

• Nitec/ diploma in engineering or related fields; fluent in English.
• Minimum 2 years semiconductor equipment engineering experience with hands-on troubleshooting.
• Able to work in a cleanroom environment and handle 12-hour shifts, including weekends.
• Strong discipline in following SOPs, quality standards, and EHS requirements.
• Proficient with MES systems, data entry, and MS Office (Excel/PowerPoint).

Job Requirements

• Nitec / Higher Nitec / Diploma in Engineering, Science, or related disciplines
• Able to communicate fluently in English
• Preferably with minimum 2 years of semiconductor equipment engineering experience (AMAT, ASML, Bruker, Ebara, Evatec, EVG, KLA, LAM, MATTSON, Nikon, SPTS, TEL, Veeco etc.) with hands‑on equipment troubleshooting experience
• Systematic and logical thinking.
• Strong discipline in following SOPs, quality standards, and EHS requirements
• Physically able to work in a cleanroom environment for extended periods (12 hours shift), including standing and gowning requirement1
• Willing to perform shift work, including weekends and public holidays
• Good attention to detail and committed to data accuracy and integrity
• Strong teamwork and communication skills to work effectively with engineers, technicians, and cross‑functional teams
• Able to work independently with minimal supervision and demonstrate a sense of ownership and responsibility
• Basic computer literacy (MES systems, data entry, Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint or similar tools)

Additional Requirements (for Senior Technician)

• Experience handling multiple Semiconductor toolsets with >10 years experience or more
• Exposure to yield improvement, DOE runs, or engineering experiments
• Ability to mentor junior technicians and support training activities
• Familiarity with fab automation systems (e.g., FOUP handling, stockers, sorters)
• Basic understanding of SPC, FMEA.
• Lead in continuous improvement initiatives (Lean / Six Sigma)
