Job summary

Nicoll Curtin is partnering with a leading international bank to hire a Senior Java Developer for the Equities Technology team. The role focuses on designing and building low-latency, high-performance trading and risk platforms that support global equities businesses.

You will own system architecture and work closely with senior front-office stakeholders, Traders, Quants, Product Managers, and Technology leaders to deliver scalable solutions and maintain high engineering standards.

Qualifications

• Minimum 8 years of hands-on software development experience.
• Strong focus on Java (Java 8+).
• Low-latency, high-performance systems in production.
• Multithreading, concurrency, memory management, and JVM internals.
• Large-scale distributed systems design.
• System architecture and design patterns in complex enterprises.
• Excellent communication with senior technical and business stakeholders.
• Analytical and problem-solving skills in fast-paced environments.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and enhance low-latency, high-throughput Java systems supporting equities trading platforms.
• Build and optimise highly concurrent, multi-threaded, event-driven applications.
• Own system architecture, technical design, and performance optimisation initiatives.
• Partner closely with Traders, Quants, Product Managers, and Technology leadership to deliver business-critical solutions.
• Lead design reviews, code reviews, and architectural discussions, setting high engineering standards.
• Diagnose and resolve complex production issues, including latency bottlenecks and system stability challenges.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to the overall technical maturity of the team.
