Job summary

Recruit Express Pte Ltd in Singapore is seeking an experienced backend engineer to design, develop, and maintain scalable systems built on Java Spring Boot and microservices. You will collaborate with product managers and frontend teams to deliver robust APIs and data-driven solutions.

You will lead code reviews, mentor juniors, and contribute to DevOps with Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines while ensuring security and performance across SQL, NoSQL, and caching layers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field.
• 4 years of hands-on backend development experience in enterprise or cloud-native apps.
• Proficient in Java Spring Boot.
• Strong experience with microservices, RESTful APIs, and messaging queues like RabbitMQ.
• Database architecture and performance tuning across SQL/NoSQL and caching (PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis).
• Expertise in TDD with JUnit/Mockito and automated API testing.
• Linux environment experience; shell scripting and deployment practices.
• Containerisation with Docker and orchestration with Kubernetes.
• Experience with SAP/Salesforce integration is a plus.
• Understanding secure coding principles and API security (OAuth2, JWT).
• CI/CD tooling (Bamboo, GitHub Actions, Jenkins) and cloud exposure (AWS/Azure/GCP).
• Strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, development, and maintenance of scalable backend systems, microservices, and RESTful APIs.
• Collaborate with product managers and frontend teams to deliver digital solutions aligned with business and IT strategy.
• Ensure backend systems are secure, reliable, and optimised for performance.
• Drive architectural decisions and code reviews to uphold best practices.
• Mentor junior developers and promote continuous improvement.
• Manage system integrations with internal and third-party platforms.
• Contribute to DevOps processes and CI/CD pipelines for rapid, safe delivery.
• Document key design decisions, workflows, and technical specs.
• Support production systems, troubleshoot issues, and ensure uptime and resilience.
• Participate actively in peer code reviews, adhering to SonarQube and security standards.
