Job summary

Shopee Singapore is seeking an experienced Backend Engineer to design and build backend services for large-scale data platforms, emphasizing scalability, reliability, and maintainability.

You will own modules from design to delivery, collaborate with product managers, data engineers, and frontend engineers, and optimize performance in distributed systems. Strong Java skills, Spring Frameworks, Linux, and MySQL are essential. Experience with large-scale data systems is valued.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field.
• At least 3 years of Java backend development experience.
• Strong Java fundamentals, including JVM, concurrency, and performance tuning.
• Experience with Spring Boot / Spring Cloud.
• Familiar with Linux environments and relational databases (MySQL).
• Strong learning ability and sense of ownership.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop backend services for large-scale data platforms, including data development, scheduling, data assets, and analytics services.
• Build and evolve core system modules and frameworks with a focus on scalability, stability, and maintainability.
• Abstract complex data models and computation logic into clear, user-facing platform capabilities.
• Troubleshoot and solve complex technical and business problems in distributed systems.
• Contribute to system reliability, performance optimization, and high-availability design.
• Collaborate closely with product managers, data engineers, and frontend engineers.
