Job summary

National Institute of Education (NIE) invites applications for a Senior IT Security Analyst on a 3-year contract, within the Division of Academic Computing & Information Services (ACIS). You will oversee the full Incident Response lifecycle, lead investigations, and develop playbooks while coordinating with internal and external stakeholders and vendors.

You will monitor threats, perform threat hunting, and produce detailed reports on threat statistics.

Qualifications

• University degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or related field.
• Professional Certification(s) in incident handling and security analysis preferred.
• GCIH or equivalent preferred.
• Minimum 4 years of progressive IT security experience focusing on Incident Response.
• Minimum 4 years in a Security Operations Center (SOC) with leadership capabilities.
• Solid knowledge of security operations, incident analysis, threat hunting, vulnerability management, log analysis, and network security tools.
• Proficiency with SIEM/EDR, traffic analysis, forensics, cloud security, and host-based IDS.
• Experience with Blue/Purple teaming, IPS, WAF, virtualization, and cloud tech.
• Knowledge of Linux, Windows, and databases; strong policy/framework understanding.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the incident response lifecycle from detection to resolution.
• Lead investigations and perform root-cause analysis and remediation.
• Develop and maintain incident response playbooks and procedures.
• Coordinate with stakeholders and vendors during incidents.
• Conduct post-incident reviews and report findings to management.
• Manage incident response across hybrid IT environments (on-premises and cloud).
• Develop and implement advanced threat detection and monitoring strategies.
• Utilize SIEM/EDR and other tools for timely detection; conduct threat hunting.
• Analyze threats and prepare detailed threat statistics reports for stakeholders.
• Evaluate and integrate new security technologies; foster continuous improvement.
• Support cybersecurity projects and coordinate with stakeholders and vendors on deliverables.
