Job description

A prominent payments technology provider is seeking a Senior IT Infrastructure Engineer – VMware & Windows to join their Infrastructure Services team. This role plays a critical part in ensuring the performance, availability, and security of the company’s enterprise IT systems that support real-time and batch financial transactions across the nation.

You will be responsible for administering a hybrid infrastructure environment comprising VMware and Windows systems. You will also be involved in hardening, automation, capacity planning, and providing support for a high-availability, regulated environment.

Key Responsibilities
Windows Server Administration
  • Manage Windows Server environments (2012, 2016, 2019, 2022).
  • Administer core infrastructure services such as Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policies, WSUS, and file services.
  • Implement OS hardening and patching in compliance with industry standards and internal policies (e.g., CIS, MAS TRM).
  • Manage identity and access control processes, including privileged account management.
VMware Infrastructure Management
  • Design, deploy, and manage VMware infrastructure including ESXi, vCenter, vMotion, HA, DRS, and vSAN.
  • Optimize virtual environments for performance and resource utilization.
  • Maintain DR readiness using solutions such as VMware SRM and manage virtual backup and replication strategies.
  • Apply patching, hardening, and lifecycle management across VMware systems.
Automation, Monitoring & Operational Support
  • Automate routine system administration tasks using scripting tools like PowerShell and Ansible.
  • Use infrastructure monitoring platforms (e.g., vROps, SolarWinds, PRTG, Nagios) for proactive issue resolution.
  • Provide L3 escalation support for complex infrastructure incidents and lead root cause analysis efforts.
  • Maintain operational documentation, SOPs, and system diagrams for compliance and audit purposes.
Collaboration & Governance
  • Collaborate with network, security, DevOps, and application teams to ensure cohesive infrastructure operations.
  • Participate in change management (CAB), vulnerability remediation, and IT audits.
  • Contribute to infrastructure improvement projects, platform migrations, and system refreshes.
Requirements
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in IT infrastructure roles, with at least 3 years in VMware and Windows administration within a regulated or financial environment.
Technical Skills
  • Strong experience in Windows Server administration, Active Directory, and GPOs.
  • Proficient in managing and securing VMware infrastructure (vSphere, vMotion, vSAN, DRS).
  • Skilled in patch management tools such as WSUS and SCCM.
  • Working knowledge of scripting (PowerShell, Ansible) and system automation.
  • Experience with infrastructure monitoring and alerting tools.
  • Familiarity with data center operations and disaster recovery strategies.
