Job summary

Singapore Management University is seeking a seasoned Head of Internal Audit to lead audit strategy, supervise a team of auditors, and report to senior leadership. The role emphasizes risk assessment, controls assurance, and data-driven audit techniques.

Responsibilities include planning, resource management, IT/audit supervision, and presenting outcomes to ExCo. The incumbent will drive the Data Automation Strategy and oversee budgets and vendor performance.

Qualifications

• Degree in Accountancy/Business or equivalent with CIA and/or CA/CISA/CRMA preferred.
• Minimum 15 years in Internal Audit, with 8–10 years in a managerial role.
• Knowledge of COSO Internal Control Framework and audit standards.
• Experience supervising IT/IS audits and presenting to ExCo.
• Strong integrity, analytical ability and accountability.
• Excellent negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to guide and upscale junior auditors when needed.
• Familiarity with red flags indicators, though not a fraud investigator.

Responsibilities

• Support Internal Audit Director in planning and committee admin matters.
• Supervise and guide a team of auditors; set goals and review outputs.
• Review audit scope, risks, results, and adequacy of coverage.
• Verify Risk and Controls Matrix; ensure documentation is complete.
• Allocate resources and manage external vendors and budgets.
• Resolve issues with sound judgment and discretion.
• Perform complex analysis and high-precision problem solving.
• Prepare audit reports and present to senior leadership.
• Champion data automation: analytics, scripts, AI-driven screening.
• Oversee departmental budgets and training allocations.
• Other duties as assigned.
