Job description

Site Name: Singapore - Tuas

Purpose

To manage a team of technicians/junior staff in a specific engineering discipline (Instrumentation) to ensure timely implementation of projects and plant availability at all times.

Key Responsibilities Area
  1. Carry out implementation activities for plant modifications, capital projects, and other identified plant improvement projects in line with defined specifications, budget, and qualification of facilities in accordance with site-approved procedures.
  2. Provide specialist advice to other departments and subordinates for troubleshooting and continuous improvements to processes and systems.
  3. Maintain the site equipment and facilities to high GMP standards meeting regulatory expectations to ensure the site is always inspection-ready.
  4. Implement and execute the Product Contamination Cause and Elimination (PCCE) program.
  5. Contribute to project planning for capital projects and develop maintenance plans for newly installed equipment.
  6. Provide site inputs for the development of Global Engineering Standards (GES).
  7. Monitor and enforce compliance measures, including safety, within their discipline to ensure inspection readiness and participate as an audit team member.
  8. Supervise, develop, and motivate junior staff to maximize their potential and contribute to departmental objectives.
  9. Assist in developing the annual operating budget for the section to achieve operational targets.
  10. Implement the GSK Production System (GPS) for the Engineering department.
  11. Plan and execute plant maintenance, manage engineering resources during plant turnarounds, and resolve breakdowns promptly, including engaging external assistance.
  12. Support the development of the facility master plan to ensure compliance with standards, manage obsolescence, and asset replacement.
  13. Monitor and manage utility systems to ensure constant, reliable supply and minimize production disruptions.
Skills, Knowledge & Experience
  1. Good honors degree in the relevant engineering discipline.
  2. At least 5 years of instrumentation experience in the process/pharmaceutical industry; experience in planning and scheduling or electrical engineering is an advantage.
  3. Basic awareness of industrial standards.
  4. Good understanding of local codes and requirements.
  5. Familiarity with GSK Engineering Standards (ES).
  6. Basic commercial knowledge and project management skills.
  7. Effective communication and operational excellence skills.
