Job summary

KLA is seeking a Research Scientist to design, synthesize and characterize advanced inorganic materials. The role demands hands-on experiments, data-driven analysis and close collaboration with optics, opto-mechanical and laser engineering teams to drive material innovations for semiconductor manufacturing.

The successful candidate will work within the Office of the CTO, contributing to long-range technology development and collaborating across product divisions to deliver validated materials

Qualifications

• Strong expertise in inorganic compound synthesis, sintering, material science, surface science, phase transfer science and solid-state chemistry.
• Strong practical skills in experimental synthesis.
• Proficiency with TGA, XRD, SEM and XPS for material characterization.
• Strong team player with a positive and proactive attitude.

Responsibilities

• Design and synthesize inorganic compounds and solid-state materials.
• Optimize reaction conditions to achieve high-purity and well-defined material structures.
• Perform material characterization using techniques such as TGA, XRD, SEM and XPS.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to perform failure analysis and ensure feasibility of new materials/processes for KLA products.
