Job summary

A leading engineering firm in Singapore is seeking a Lead Engineer to oversee shipbuilding and repair projects. The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor’s degree with Honours in Mechanical, Marine, Offshore Engineering, or Naval Architecture and have 5-8 years of experience in HVAC systems. Strong leadership and project management skills are essential. This role involves coordinating engineering teams and liaising with external stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • 5 - 8 years of engineering design experience in HVAC systems.
  • Solid working experience with HVAC turnkey contractors, HVAC equipment suppliers, or shipyard HVAC departments.

Job description
Responsibilities
  • Lead or assist as a Lead Engineer in new shipbuilding and ship repair/retrofit projects.
  • Coordinate and manage a team of engineers to ensure timely and accurate delivery of engineering outputs.
  • Provide specialist technical advice and support to both internal stakeholders and external parties.
  • Liaise with ship owners and Classification Societies to obtain approval of engineering deliverables and resolve technical issues when required.
  • Review and approve detailed design drawings and documents (e.g., piping isometrics, layouts, ducting arrangements, equipment foundations, machinery room layouts, bills of materials, and mechanical outfitting drawings) to ensure compliance with contractual specifications and Classification Society requirements.
  • Prepare detailed design drawings using 3D modelling tools, including ducting designs and related documents to support prototype development.
  • Regularly update the 3D software database to maintain accuracy and consistency of engineering attributes.
  • Ensure all design drawings and documents meet departmental standards and provide input for continuous improvement.
  • Manage external consultants on engineering integration and deliverables.
  • Participate in tests and sea trials as required.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree with Honours in Mechanical, Marine, Offshore Engineering, or Naval Architecture.
  • 5 - 8 years of engineering design experience in HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning) systems.
