Job description

Fire Safety Supervisor Job Description

The following are the key responsibilities for the Fire Safety Supervisor:

  1. Ensure compliance with fire safety requirements outlined in the Emergency Response Plan;
  2. Supervise maintenance of all fire safety systems within the premises;
  3. Ensure occupant load does not exceed the capacity specified under the Fire Code;
  4. Conduct daily inspections to identify and remove fire hazards;
  5. Prepare, execute, and distribute the Emergency Response Plan to occupants;
  6. Conduct fire drills at least twice annually or as directed by the Commissioner;
  7. Ensure occupants are familiar with escape routes and safety procedures;
  8. Prepare fire safety guidebooks and train the Emergency Response Team in first aid, firefighting, and evacuation procedures;
  9. Train occupants in first aid, firefighting, and evacuation procedures;
  10. Coordinate and supervise firefighting and evacuation efforts during emergencies;
  11. Supervise the operation of the Fire Command Centre during emergencies;
  12. Conduct at least two Table-Top Exercises annually to evaluate the effectiveness of the Fire Safety and Arson Prevention Plans;
  13. Develop and implement the Arson Prevention Plan;
  14. Immediately notify the Commissioner of any fire incidents;
  15. Organize campaigns and activities to promote fire safety awareness among occupants;
  16. Perform additional duties as required by the Commissioner.
