Job description

We are representing our client in the food manufacturing space to look for a Financial Controller to ensure the integrity of financial reporting, budgeting, cost control, and regulatory compliance.

The role involves managing the finance team, driving operational efficiencies, and providing financial insights to support strategic decision-making.

Financial Management & Reporting:

  • Oversee preparation of accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with accounting standards (GAAP/IFRS).

  • Ensure timely reporting of key financial metrics to senior management.

  • Lead the annual audit process, liaising with external auditors and regulatory bodies.

Budgeting & Forecasting:

  • Lead the annual budgeting process in coordination with operations, production, and sales teams.

  • Develop rolling forecasts and variance analysis.

  • Monitor budget performance and highlight areas of concern or improvement.

Cost Accounting & Inventory Management:

  • Implement and maintain cost accounting systems tailored to food manufacturing.

  • Analyze product costs, overhead allocations, and margins.

  • Work closely with operations to monitor raw material usage, wastage, and inventory valuation.

Cash Flow & Treasury Management:

  • Monitor daily cash flow, banking relationships, and funding requirements.

  • Optimize working capital by managing receivables, payables, and inventory levels.

Compliance & Risk Management:

  • Ensure compliance with all financial, tax, and regulatory requirements.

  • Develop and maintain strong internal controls to safeguard company assets.

  • Support risk management initiatives and insurance programs.

Team Leadership:

  • Lead, train, and mentor finance and accounting team members.

  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and financial discipline across the organization.

Education & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Master’s or MBA preferred).

  • CPA, CMA, or equivalent professional certification required.

Experience:

  • >12 years of progressive accounting/finance experience, with at least 5 years in a manufacturing environment (food manufacturing preferred).

  • Strong knowledge of cost accounting, ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite), and financial modeling.

Skills:

  • Deep understanding of food industry cost drivers, supply chain, and margin optimization.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting tools.

  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and leadership skills.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
