Paya Lebar Methodist Church is seeking a trustworthy and detail-oriented Finance Assistant. This role is key to ensuring financial integrity, enabling effective stewardship of resources that support PLMC’s ministries and mission.
Key Responsibilities
Steward Financial Transactions with Integrity
- Process payments, claims, and receipts with accuracy and care
- Maintain proper documentation and clear records of all transactions and suppliers
- Manage petty cash and perform timely bank reconciliations
Support Ministry Activities Through Financial Record-Keeping
- Record ministry-related income from events and activities accurately
- Maintain digital financial records to support audits and transparent reporting
- Provide data support for monthly management reports and GST filings
Ensure Accuracy, Compliance & Accountability
- Post transactions and prepare reconciliations with high attention to detail and accuracy
- Support the upkeep of fixed asset records and assist with periodic asset verification
- Uphold compliance with internal financial policies and local regulatory requirements
Collaborate and Assist in Administrative Duties
- Handle bank account opening and updating requirements
- Provide consistent support to the team and other staff as needed especially for church-wide and church office events
- Assist with general finance-related and administrative tasks
- Demonstrate a cooperative spirit and willingness to serve the church community
- Any other role, responsibilities and duties as required and assigned by the Director and Pastor-In-Charge.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in finance or accounting
- LCCI or an equivalent qualification in finance/accounting
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office tools
- Able to work independently while contributing to a team
- Committed to integrity, confidentiality, and Christian values
Preferred Requirements
- Experience working in a Christian church context in Singapore
- Experience or training in Sage 300 is a plus
- Willingness to work occasional weekends for church meetings/events
