Job description

What you will be working on:

Responsibilities
  • Process payments, receipts, journals, investments, virements & claims timely and accurately.
  • Review financial transactions and perform reconciliations.
  • Monitor utilisation of funds and expenditure on a regular basis.
  • Work closely with other divisions on finance matters.
  • Perform ad-hoc duties as assigned by Supervisor.
  • Monitor and respond to queries received from the public.
  • Take initiative to streamline processes and apply internal control frameworks.

What we are looking for:

Requirements & Competencies
  • Financial Analysis: Ability to apply analysis tools and techniques such as data analytics on financial information to assess financial implications and viability, providing value-added insights to support organisational plans.
  • Financial Operations & Controls: Knowledge of and ability to apply principles, policies, laws, and regulations (e.g., Finance Procedures Act, Revenue Recognition Framework) in financial operations and management.
  • Financial Reporting: Ability to prepare financial statements using appropriate principles and standards, such as cash basis for Ministries and accrual basis for Statutory Boards.
  • Systems and Data Management: Ability to manage financial operations using relevant systems, management reporting tools, e-transaction portals, and other IT software.
  • Budget Planning and Administration: Ability to support short-term and long-term budget planning to meet organisational strategic outcomes.
Personal Traits
  • 1-3 years of relevant experience in finance; government sector experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of Government Instruction Manuals, policies, and procedures preferred.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and analytics tools.
  • Positive attitude, willingness to learn, and strong team player.
Note: The successful candidate will be offered a one-year contract with remuneration based on experience.
