Job summary

Ocean Network Express (ONE) is seeking a data scientist to own end-to-end model development for operations and sales, collaborating with business teams to translate real-world problems into data-driven solutions. Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science, Math/Statistics or related field.
• Minimum 3 years of production-level Data Science experience.
• Advanced Python (PyTorch), SQL, and Docker proficiency.
• Deep knowledge from basic models to Deep Learning & Transformers.
• Strong experience with tabular data modeling and time-series forecasting; CV knowledge is a plus.
• Hands-on cloud ML platform experience (GCP Vertex AI, BigQuery) and AutoML for rapid prototyping
• Ability to translate complex problems into engineered features and communicate business impact

Job description

• Lead the full data science lifecycle by building reproducible, automated pipelines from raw data extraction and preprocessing to model training, evaluation, and deployment.
• Partner closely with business and operations teams to translate real-world operational challenges into effective feature engineering, custom model designs, and aligned evaluation metrics.
• Apply deep theoretical and practical understanding across the algorithm spectrum, ranging from foundational statistical models (e.g., linear/logistic regression) to complex Deep Neural Networks and Transformers.
• Specialize in structured/tabular data to build high-precision predictive solutions (e.g., sales forecasting, schedule/resource planning), experience with Computer Vision and multi-modal techniques is an advantage
• Leverage cloud-native AutoML frameworks (e.g., Vertex AI AutoML) to automate hyperparameter tuning, establish fast baseline benchmarks, and accelerate time-to-market for production models
• Support in any ad hoc tasks as assigned

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science, Math/Statistics or other relevant field
• Minimum 3 years experience in Data Science at the production level.
• Advanced proficiency in Python (PyTorch), SQL, and Docker.
• Deep knowledge ranging from basic regression/tree models (XGBoost) to Deep Learning & Transformers.
• Strong expertise in tabular data modeling and time-series forecasting (sales, schedule, demand) and experience with Computer Vision is an advantage
• Hands-on experience with cloud ML platforms (GCP preferred specifically Vertex AI and BigQuery), including practical use of AutoML frameworks for rapid prototyping and baseline building
• Ability to translate complex operational challenges into engineered features and model architectures, explaining technical ML concepts and business-impact metrics to non-technical stakeholders
• Strong problem-solving capability with Agile/Scrum experience (GitHub, Jira)
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to work in a multicultural organisation
• Logistics/Supply Chain Management knowledge will be an advantage
