Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Manage the Surgical & Bed Pipeline: schedule daily OT slots and bed allocations with clinical understanding of priorities.
  • Optimize Resource Utilization: align patient needs with ICU/HDU/general ward resources, escalate shortages.
  • Uphold Standards & Drive Quality: ensure scheduling aligns with hospital policies, analyze data, and lead CQI initiatives.
  • Mentor and Guide the Team: support supervisor, train staff on patient flow apps, foster clinical accuracy and efficiency.
  • Lead Service Recovery and Communication: be the go-to for conflicts and complex cases, communicating clearly with clinicians and clinic managers.

This role goes beyond scheduling; it's about making informed decisions that balance clinical urgency, resource availability, and patient safety. We need a professional who speaks the language of our surgeons and clinic staff, understands the nuances of different surgical procedures and acuity levels, and can translate clinical needs into an efficient operational plan.


Your clinical background will be your greatest asset, allowing you to triage requests, anticipate bottlenecks, and command the respect of the clinical teams you support. You are the operational anchor, ensuring that the flow from clinic to OT to ward is seamless, safe, and efficient.


Your Key Responsibilities are:

  • Manage the Surgical & Bed Pipeline: Take charge of the daily schedule, coordinating OT slots and bed allocations with a clinical understanding of patient priorities and resource constraints.

  • Optimize Resource Utilization: Use your clinical judgment to match patient needs (e.g., ICU, HDU, general ward) with available resources, escalating shortages and implementing contingency plans proactively.

  • Uphold Standards & Drive Quality: Ensure all scheduling activities comply with hospital policies and service standards. You will analyze performance data, prepare reports, and lead Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) initiatives to enhance our processes.

  • Mentor and Guide the Team: Support the team supervisor by sharing your clinical expertise, helping to train staff on patient flow applications, and fostering a culture of clinical accuracy and operational efficiency.

  • Lead Service Recovery and Communication: Act as a key point of contact for scheduling conflicts and complex cases, providing clear, professional communication and effective solutions to clinicians and clinic managers.


How to Succeed


  • Diploma in Nursing etc preferred or Diploma/Degree a related clinical field (e.g., Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy) with a valid [e.g., Singapore Nursing Board] license.

  • Enrolled nurses and Clinic Assistants are welcome to apply.

  • At least 2-3 years of experience in a clinical setting, preferably in an acute hospital, surgical ward, or ICU/HDW. You understand the \"Why\" behind the booking.

  • Critical Skills:

    • Clinical Acumen: Strong understanding of surgical procedures, patient acuity, and post-operative care requirements.

    • Operational Mindset: Ability to manage complex logistics, multitask, and maintain precision under pressure.

    • Diplomatic Communication: Confidently and effectively liaise with senior consultants, clinic managers, and ward staff.

    • Resilience and Composure: Thrives in a fast-paced environment and can make sound decisions when faced with conflicting priorities.



  • Advantageous: Prior experience in bed management, OT scheduling, or a hospital operations role.

  • 5-days' work week (one off day between Monday to Saturday) and Rest on Sundays.
