THIS IS A 2-YEARS RENEWABLE / CONVERTIBLE CONTRACT ROLE.

Job Summary:

The Defence Collective Singapore is seeking a skilled and experienced Exhibitions Senior Executive / Assistant Manager to support the planning, development, installation, and management of exhibitions, including projects involving large-scale military platforms, aircraft, and artefacts.

The ideal candidate should have experience or a strong understanding of object handling, including the moving, lifting, and rigging of heavy and complex objects, to ensure installations are safe, efficient, and visually impactful.

Working closely with the Exhibitions Manager, the candidate will contribute to project design development and coordination. You will collaborate with designers, engineers, contractors, conservators, and other specialists to uphold high standards of exhibition design, technical execution, and visitor engagement.

Key Responsibilities:

Exhibition Development & Management

  • Conceptualise, plan, and execute permanent galleries, special exhibitions, and travelling showcases
  • Ensure alignment with gallery vision, storytelling goals, and accessibility standards.
  • Collaborate with designers, curators, producers and tech teams to deliver immersive experiences.
  • Oversee 3D models, prototypes, and mock-ups; integrate lighting, sound, and digital enhancements.
  • Project manage exhibition budgets, schedules, and resources.
  • Coordinate with vendors, contractors, and internal and external teams and stakeholders for timely project delivery.
  • Provide technical oversight during installation and deinstallation.

Specialisation in Moving, Lifting & Rigging

  • Plan and manage the safe rigging, lifting, and installation of large military artefacts and vehicles.
  • Collaborate with engineers and logistics teams to design secure mounting and display solutions.
  • Conduct risk assessments and ensure compliance with safety and conservation protocols.
  • Supervise rigging contractors to ensure precision and safety.

Maintenance & Conservation Support

  • Facilitate work with exhibitors and conservators to maintain object stability and display quality.
  • Facilitate the implementation of preventive conservation for large artefacts and structures.
  • Conduct regular inspections to ensure safety and exhibit upkeep.

Requirements:

  • Diploma/Bachelor’s in Exhibition Design, Museum Studies, Engineering, or related field.
  • 3–5 years’ experience in exhibition project management.
  • Knowledge of rigging, structural engineering, and handling large artefacts; certifications are an advantage.
  • Familiar with museum standards and preventive conservation.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD, Rhinoceros 3D, Revit, BIM, or similar design tools.
  • Strong leadership, project management, and stakeholder coordination skills.
  • Understanding of safety protocols for the installation and movement of heavy objects.
  • Able to manage tight deadlines and multiple projects.
  • Experience with military, aviation, or heritage artefacts preferred.
