Through partnerships across sectors, we tackle evolving challenges while fostering an inclusive, safe, and supportive workplace.Join us in shaping Singapore’s sustainable future and making a lasting impact on the everyday lives of generations to come.The role is for an Executive / Senior executive / Assistant Director in the Environmental Behavioural Sciences & Economics Research Unit (EBERU) in the Research, Futures & Planning Division (RFPD).EBERU conducts empirical research to support the development, implementation and evaluation of MSE’s policies and regulations. The team uses quantitative and qualitative research methods to inform formulation, implementation and evaluation of environmental policies and programmes. Examples of studies regularly conducted by EBERU include causal inference, applying novel data science techniques, and designing surveys and nudges to understand and promote environmentally sustainable behaviours.
What you will be working on:
As part of a team of researchers, you will apply techniques in econometrics, data science and Artificial Intelligence to novel and large datasets. The objective is to derive data-driven insights to improve policy outcomes and formulation. Your responsibilities will include:• Engaging stakeholders to identify, scope and conduct research and evaluation projects that inform MSE’s strategic priorities.• Conduct research or evaluation using data science and econometrics techniques, including causal regression analysis, data mining, machine learning and natural language processing.• Communicating the insights and findings in an accessible manner.
What we are looking for:
• Knowledge in Economics or other quantitative disciplines such as Data Science, Business Analytics, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, or related disciplines.• A strong passion for empirical research and experience in solving complex problems using quantitative approaches (e.g., econometrics and data science).• Strong quantitative ability to work with large datasets and implement novel techniques.• Excellent communication skills and the ability to express complex ideas simply and logically.• Experience in programme evaluation will be an advantage.• Proficiency with statistical/programming software (e.g., Python, R, STATA).
