A leading organization in Singapore is seeking a communication support specialist for a 2-year contract. The role involves managing media relations, developing communication materials, and implementing communication strategies to enhance the image and position of the organization among stakeholders. Strong interpersonal skills and relevant qualifications are essential for this position.
Job Summary
The jobholder (2 year contract) supports the organisation in a range of communication activities such as media relations, event staffing, marketing and projects. The jobholder must be comfortable in providing communication consult, lead media relations, and publicity efforts for events. The jobholder must ensure consistent messaging and communication of MENDAKI’s image and position to internal and external stakeholders. This includes crafting communication materials, pitching human-interest stories and profiles as well as to facilitate media queries. The jobholder is also required to manage interview requests and provide staffing for spokesperson(s) including but not limited to political office holders, members of parliament, MENDAKI leadership team, beneficiaries, volunteers and participants.
Key Responsibility Areas
Media Relations
Develop and implement communication activities to increase the publicity of MENDAKI’s events, programmes and services. This includes but is not limited to developing media angles, key messages/narratives, drafting communication materials such as media releases and information sheets, as well as to facilitate interviews, and tracking coverage
Ensure consistent messaging and communication
Support the organisation’s media relations with various media partners including government agencies across different media agencies and channels
Profiling human-interest stories through media pitching
Work with departments to prepare communication materials such as administrative programmes, speeches and/or talking points, social media posts, media releases, identify human-interest stories
Lead media officer to support MENDAKI departments such as Partnerships, Research and Design, Programme Evaluation Office, and MENDAKI Club.
Media Monitoring
Conduct daily media scanning to identify mentions and relevant news to the organisation and broadcast results over internal bulletins
Archive news and ensure that they are properly catalogued and filed for future reference
Communication Projects and Administration
Support branding exercise projects and/or campaigns
Support editorial collaboration with media partners
Support publicity efforts for digital projects with government agencies
Support budget planning and tracking of expenditures for the department
Requirements
Diploma in Communications, Mass Media, Public Relations, or other relevant qualifications from a recognised institution
At least 2 years of relevant experience preferred
Strong command of written and spoken English and Malay languages to effectively communicate with Mandarin-speaking clients.
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to manage stakeholders across different levels
Strong project management and time management skills
Resourceful and takes the initiative to effect change
Ability to work under pressure
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
Knowledge of Adobe Photoshop or other design software would be an advantage
Knowledge of digital media platforms and their applications
