Job description

The said claims handler is responsible for managing and resolving commercial claims in the areas of Property, Engineering and General Liability. This role involved evaluating policy coverage, investigating loss circumstances, coordinating with loss adjusters, legal counsel, and other stakeholders. This position requires strong technical knowledge, analytical capability, and the ability to communicate clearly with clients, brokers, and internal stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Handle end to end claims process from first notification of loss to closure.
• Assess policy coverage, liability, and quantum of loss for each claim.
• Appoint and liaise with loss adjusters.
• Evaluate reports and recommendations to determine claim validity and settlement strategy.
• Negotiate settlements in line with policy terms, company guidelines and legal frameworks.
• Manage claims reserves.
• Provide timely and professional communication to brokers and clients.
• Identify potential fraud or litigation cases.
• Collaborate with underwriting to provide claims insights.
• Support internal audits and continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Insurance, Law, Engineering or related fields, ACII, ANZIFF or equivalent.
• Minimum 2 to 5 years in commercial claims handling ideally across property, construction/engineering or liability lines.
• Exposure to both routine and complex litigated claims.
• Experience in working with brokers, adjusters, and law.
• Understanding of policy wordings (e.g., Industrial All Risks, CAR/EAR, Public Liability)
• Basic legal concepts, negligence, indemnity, subrogation and liability assessment.
• Analytical thinking, negotiation, communication and attention to details.
