Job summary

EXPORT DEVELOPMENT CANADA (EDC) Singapore Branch seeks a Senior Environmental & Social Risk Advisor for the Asia-Pacific region. The role leads ES risk assessment across transactions, applying Equator Principles and IFC standards, and guiding ESG integration in financing decisions.

You will build relationships with clients and internal teams, conduct site visits, and monitor ES performance, while collaborating with our Ottawa head office to advance sustainable finance in a dynamic market.

Qualifications

• Degree in environmental or social sciences or related field.
• Advanced knowledge of ESIA and due diligence principles and standards (Equator Principles, IFC Performance Standards).
• Fluent in English (oral and written).
• 7–10 years' experience in ESIA/ESDD in consulting or relevant sectors.
• Willingness to travel up to 20% and work across geographies/time zones.

Responsibilities

• Lead assessment of EDC transactions identifying ES risks and recommending mitigants.
• Evaluate ESIA, ESDD, monitoring, and ESAPs to ensure alignment with standards.
• Negotiate ES commitments in financing documentation with clients to manage risks.
• Manage relationships with diverse stakeholders and clients across the Asia-Pacific region.
• Conduct site visits to assess ES capacity and performance (Asia-Pacific).
• Monitor project performance for compliance with ES commitments and advise management.
