About the role

The Senior Engineering Manager – Mechanical, Power Systems will report to the Head of Hardware (Programmes, Mechanical Engineering & Engineering Analysis) and lead a group of specialist mechanical engineers based in Singapore, and the Philippines. The team is responsible for delivering mechanical design solutions for motors and harware technologies, including but not limited to areas such as aerodynamics, rotor dynamics, thermals, compressor design, acoustics & vibration. The Senior Engineering Manager will be responsible for ensuring that the team’s deliverables meet performance, reliability, cost, size, weight, multi-sourcing, and schedule requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Support the implementation of the department’s vision and direction, translating it into team-level annual goals and objectives.
  • Responsible for the team’s delivery of project work packages, meeting milestone timelines and maintaining high standards of quality & technical rigour.
  • Make informed technical decisions within the team, escalating complex issues as required.
  • Guide the team through engineering challenges, encouraging creativity, technical expertise, and sound judgement to achieve optimal design outcomes.
  • Collaborate actively with other functional teams to support program and platform delivery, living the Dyson values in everyday leadership.
  • Work to attract, recruit, and retain talent. Responsible for onboarding, coaching, and developing team members.
  • Promote and ensure adoption of world-class tools and effective engineering processes. Support implementation of best practice.
  • Manage and allocate engineering resources within the team to ensure timely and effective delivery of project requirements.
  • Contribute to creating an efficient and effective team structure, and support cost and resource management in line with budgets.
  • Participate in department leadership activities and represent the team in cross-functional meetings with main stakeholders.
About you
  • Strong mechanical engineering background, ideally with experience in complex electro-mechanical systems, high power systems, or high-volume manufacturing.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and priorities, balancing delivery and technical quality.
  • Familiarity with product development framework or experience with structured product delivery processes.
  • Ability to motivate and inspire team members to deliver high-quality objectives aligned with the department vision.
  • Proven people-management capabilities and expriance, including coaching, performance management, and resource planning.
  • Proven experience working across diverse teams and collaborating in a global, multi-site environment.
  • Strong desire to drive continuous improvement in engineering methods and technology adoption within the team.
  • Effective communicator with the ability to build relationships across functions and teams.
  • Ability to coach, mentor, and support the growth of engineers at various career stages.
  • Skilled in managing performance, providing feedback, and resolving issues within the team.
