Job summary

A government agency in waste management is seeking technical specialists for projects at waste management facilities in Singapore. Job description

What the role is

You will form the core team of technical specialists working at NEA waste management facilities, including the Integrated Waste Management Facility (IWMF) - a large-scale waste management infrastructure project, and Tuas South Incineration Plant (TSIP). The work scope and job requirements are as follows:

What you will be working on

You may be part of the project team assisting the engineer and supervising IWMF construction progress. The work scope includes:

  • Collaborating with project consultants and key stakeholders, such as other government agencies, on the design of the various facilities in IWMF, ensuring construction, erection, and installation meet design specifications and statutory requirements.
  • Participating in testing and commissioning of mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, control, and automation equipment/systems.
  • Attending factory acceptance tests (FATs) at local and overseas factories to witness and verify the quality and performance of major equipment/systems.
  • Assisting the engineer and supervising the construction progress of IWMF.
  • Working with project stakeholders on facility design and construction compliance.
  • Participating in testing and commissioning activities.
  • Witnessing and verifying quality during FATs.

You may also be part of the technical team assisting the engineer in the operation and maintenance of TSIP. Your responsibilities include:

  • Leading a team of technical specialists and coordinating maintenance activities to ensure safe and efficient operations of the waste-to-energy facility.
  • Implementing preventive maintenance and overhaul programs for electrical and control equipment, including turbo-generators, motors, switchgears, and field instruments.
  • Managing contracts for operation and maintenance of mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, control, and building services equipment.
  • Enforcing safety protocols and supervising contractors to ensure quality and safety standards.
  • Assisting in developing standard operating and safety procedures, as well as equipment testing and changeover programs.
  • Performing shift work as needed.
  • Supporting safety initiatives and continuous improvement projects to enhance safety culture and operational excellence.

What we are looking for

  • Diploma in Engineering or Nitec in Engineering.
  • Diploma holders should have at least 3 years of relevant experience; fresh graduates are considered.
  • Nitec holders should have 6-8 years of relevant experience.
  • Professional certifications such as Licensed Electrical Worker, Boiler Attendant Certificate, or Workplace Safety and Health Officer are preferred.
  • Strong technical and analytical skills; knowledge of solid waste management is an advantage.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; familiarity with Navisworks and Primavera P6 is preferred.
  • Independent, resourceful, mature, and a good team player.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work in waste-to-energy facilities and perform rotating shifts, including weekends and public holidays if required.
