Job summary

Illumina Singapore Pte Ltd is seeking a Sr Engineer - Process Development to join a high‑volume, life science regulated production environment, delivering world‑class engineering solutions and new product introduction.

You will collaborate with design, R&D and manufacturing to drive process improvements, cost and yield targets, and support supplier management. Travel may be required to support global operations and CMOs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering or Science (Chemistry, Mechanical, Electrical, Biomedical or Materials).
• 5–8 years in biotech; experience in process integration or product engineering in semiconductor manufacturing is preferred.
• FDA-regulated environment experience is a plus.
• Knowledge of wafer fabrication, biochemistry processes, back‑end packaging or CMO management is advantageous.
• Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, methodologies and environment.
• Ability to define test plans for components, materials and systems.
• Skilled in yield engineering, continuous improvement and failure analysis of reliability failure modes.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving and project management skills.
• Strong QA and Process Control knowledge; team player with good communication.
• Willing to travel in support of supplier management and coordination.

Position Summary

Be part of a highly dynamic and competent Engineering Team who is responsible to meet the quality, productivity and cost targets in a high volume, multi-product and life science regulated environment through developing effective world class engineering solutions.

Responsible for production support engineering and new product introduction for a specific product or group of products after transferring from design to in‑house or outsourced production. Interfaces with design, process, test, reliability and manufacturing engineering to solve product issues and production problems. Develops and sustains process improvements to reduce production costs and increase yields.

Position Responsibilities

• Lead and manage Illumina consumable product portfolio, with focus on contract manufacturer's operation at worldwide locations.
• Provides advanced failure analysis, root cause identification and corrective actions for product quality concerns and/or issues during manufacturing and NPI ramp with internal stakeholders and contract manufacturers.
• Analyze field quality data to identify areas for prevention and improved detection.
• Drive capacity improvement and expansion plan to meet volume ramp. Including identification of high-volume manufacturing solutions and qualification of new tools.
• Work closely with R&D to develop Design‑for‑Manufacturing (DFM) processes for NPI, leveraging learning from existing products and providing feedback on material component selection and associated test plans.
• Experience with using engineering tools and software packages to test, design and evaluate products and manufacturing margins.
• Proactively drives process improvement activities through FMEA to ascertain and recommend improvement to processes or test methods.
• Ability to interpret test results and correlate results with product failure performance

Position Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree / Masters in Engineering or Science in Chemistry, Mechanical, Electrical, Biomedical or Material related field
• Minimum 5-8 years of work experience in the biotech industry is strongly preferred
• Prior experience in process integration or product engineering within a semiconductor manufacturing environment is preferred.
• Experience in FDA‑regulated environment is a plus.
• Knowledge about wafer fabrication, biochemistry process, back‑end packaging assembly, or CMO Management will be an added advantage.
• Possess good understanding of manufacturing processes, methodologies and environment.
• Capable of defining test plans for components, materials and systems
• Skilled in yield engineering, continuous improvement and failure analysis of multiple reliability failure modes
• Excellent Analytical, Problem Solving and Project Management skills.
• Good understanding of Quality Assurance and Process Control Knowledge.
