Job summary

Atomic Recruitment SEA is helping a Singapore-headquartered medical technology innovator recruit a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to lead the design of flexible endoscope systems through concept, design transfer and production release. You will own key mechanisms and drive design reviews with cross-functional teams.

The role demands 6–9 years of mechanical design experience, strong CAD/GD&T skills, and a background in medical devices or related precision industries.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical, Biomedical or Mechatronics engineering required.
• 6–9 years of mechanical design experience with 2–3 years leading complex work.
• Strong CAD skills with GD&T, DOE and DFMA experience.
• Medical device experience preferred; related precision industries accepted.

Responsibilities

• Lead concept generation, mechanism design, prototyping for flexible endoscope systems.
• Design critical mechanisms: distal-tip deflection, wires, bending sections, channels and seals.
• Create and review 3D CAD models, 2D drawings, GD&T, tolerances and BOMs.
• Apply DFMA, cost and reliability thinking from concept to release.
• Lead design reviews, FMEA, failure analysis and CAPA with manufacturing.
• Mentor junior engineers, technicians and suppliers.

It is now seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to lead the design of its flexible endoscope systems, from concept through design transfer, in a role with real ownership and visible impact.

What you'll do

• Lead concept generation, mechanism design, detailed design and prototyping for flexible endoscope systems, subassemblies and accessories
• Design critical mechanisms such as distal-tip deflection, articulation wires, bending sections, insertion tubes, working channels, control handles and seals
• Create and review 3D CAD models, 2D drawings, GD&T, tolerance stacks and BOMs
• Apply DFM and DFA, cost and reliability thinking from early concept to design release
• Lead design reviews, design FMEA, failure analysis and CAPA, and work with manufacturing on design transfer and pilot builds
• Mentor junior engineers, technicians and suppliers

What you'll bring

• Degree in Mechanical, Biomedical or Mechatronics Engineering (a Master's is a plus)
• 6-9 years of mechanical design experience, including 2-3 years leading complex design work or subsystems
• Strong CAD skills (Creo, SolidWorks or similar), plus GD&T, DOE and DFMA
• Knowledge of machining, injection moulding, extrusion, bonding, laser welding and overmolding
• Medical device experience is preferred. Strong mechanical design backgrounds from adjacent precision industries such as aerospace are also welcome.
• Simulation experience (Abaqus, Ansys) is an advantage
