About the Role

The incumbent is tasked to perform technical tasks such as commissioning, maintaining, and repairing a variety of diagnostic and therapeutic biomedical equipment and assist the supervisor in implementing the department’s biomedical equipment management services in the section. In addition, the incumbent will also assist the supervisor in any ad-hoc projects.

Some of the Key Responsibilities Include
  • Commissioning biomedical equipment and systems to verify safety and performance against manufacturer’s specification, including interpreting engineering information, schematic diagrams, and instructions in the operations’ manual and service manuals
  • Troubleshoot and correct malfunctions in equipment by adjusting, alternations, repairs, or parts replacement to ensure that the equipment meets specifications
  • Identify collate schedule and manage the in-house maintenance management of biomedical equipment (e.g. reports, data analytics, etc) and to submit the necessary related reports
  • Identify trends, predictive outcomes and implementing corrective action to resolve safety and risk management
  • Prepare, submit, and present investigation report to management team
  • Liaise with stakeholders to develop specifications and help evaluate bids, negotiate, and recommend purchase
  • Facilitate essential inter-institution and inter-department collaborations and promote teamwork
  • Plan and execute project management
  • Provide technical assistance and operating support to doctors, nurses and end-users on asset improvements and equipment purchases as needed
  • Manage cybersecurity issues for medical devices and risk management
  • Assist the supervisor in the following areas:
  • Coordinate all service and repair activities of the section, including liaising with stakeholders and vendors, settling work priority for the staff, assigning work, and monitoring their work for accuracy, completeness, and safety
  • Maintain contract management
  • Various personnel functions, including staff training, competence assessment, mentoring, counselling, and promotion recommendation
  • Oversee cluster-level projects and coordinate meetings, prepare necessary documents and update policies and procedures
  • Any other duties as assigned
Job Requirements:
  • Degree holder in Biomedical/Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or equivalent
  • At least 2 years of relevant experience, preferably in the healthcare industry
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Well informed of new biomedical equipment technology
  • Possesses initiative to carry out projects and ensure proper maintenance
  • Dependable, self-motivated and able to co-operate with external vendors and operators
  • Strong interpersonal skills to communicate constructively with colleagues, peers, and subordinates
