Job summary

RecruitPedia Pte Ltd is seeking an Electrical Engineer/Senior Electrical Engineer to sustain SMPS products and drive improvements across lifecycles.

You will lead testing, analysis, and failure investigations while coordinating with global manufacturing teams. The role requires strong analogue/power/digital electronics knowledge and hands-on qualification experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or related field.
• 8+ years in electrical/electronics product development or sustaining engineering.
• Strong fundamentals in analogue, power and digital electronics; interpret schematics and analyze stresses.
• Experience in qualifying electronic components and systems; hands-on environmental testing and lab equipment.
• Proficiency in FMEA, 8D, DOE and statistical analysis; familiar with ECAD tools (Altium/OrCAD).
• Experience with Microsoft 365 apps, Teams and SharePoint.

Responsibilities

• Lead sustaining engineering for SMPS products focused on reliability, quality, cost and manufacturability.

Company Overview

Our client is an established provider of power supply solutions for industrial and other high-reliability applications. Due to business needs, they are now recruiting an Electrical Engineer / Senior Electrical Engineer to support product sustaining, engineering improvements and ongoing product lifecycle activities. They are located in the North-East of Singapore, with convenient accessibility.

Responsibilities

• Lead sustaining engineering activities for switch-mode power supply (SMPS) products, focusing on product reliability, quality, cost optimization and manufacturability.
• Lead electrical engineering activities covering product testing, failure analysis, engineering improvements, quality and reliability throughout the product lifecycle.
• Perform hands-on debugging and verification of SMPS products, circuits and components, including efficiency, thermal performance, voltage regulation, transient response, protection functions, conducted and radiated EMI pre-compliance testing, and electrical safety testing.
• Develop test plans and procedures, conduct engineering tests, collect and analyse test data, prepare test reports and maintain accurate technical documentation.
• Drive value engineering and cost-reduction initiatives, including qualification of alternative components and suppliers without compromising product performance.
• Conduct Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) to identify critical and high-risk electrical design issues, perform evaluation testing and implement risk mitigation measures.
• Perform root cause analysis to identify failure mechanisms, determine appropriate counter-measures and resolve product-related electrical issues.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams across global manufacturing sites to support product sustaining activities and manage products throughout their lifecycles.
• Design and develop hardware-and-software-based test systems to achieve test automation.
• Support component lifecycle management and maintain product compliance requirements.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree, Master's degree or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering or a related discipline.
• At least 8 years of experience in electrical/electronics product development or sustaining engineering.
• Strong fundamentals in analogue, power and digital electronics, with the ability to interpret schematics, understand component functions and analyse electrical stresses in circuits and components.
• Experience in qualifying electronic components and systems, with an understanding of common electronics design and manufacturing processes; hands-on experience in environmental testing and laboratory equipment and instruments is required.
• Proficiency in FMEA, 8D, Design of Experiments (DOE) and statistical analysis; conversant with ECAD tools such as Altium or OrCAD for schematics, PCB and Gerber files. Familiarity with Microsoft 365 applications, Teams and SharePoint is also required.

Additional Advantages

• Experience in high-voltage measurement techniques using laboratory equipment such as high-voltage probes and oscilloscopes.
• Familiarity with SMPS topologies, including flyback/forward, resonant/LLC, power factor correction (PFC) front-ends, multipliers and high-voltage bias supplies.
• Experience in high-reliability industries such as medical, industrial, automotive or aerospace.
