Job description

Job Responsibility

• Lead the conceptual and detailed design of LV and HV electrical systems, including power distribution, switchgear, UPS systems, standby generators, lighting and grounding/earthing systems.


• Develop electrical designs from the initial concept through detailed design, construction and commissioning stages.


• Prepare and review electrical engineering calculations, including cable sizing, short-circuit calculations, voltage drop, load flow and protection coordination studies.


• Develop and review Single Line Diagrams (SLDs), wiring schematics, electrical layouts, equipment schedules and Bills of Materials (BOM).


• Ensure all electrical designs and project deliverables comply with applicable local, national and international standards, including IEC, IEEE, NEC and BS EN requirements.


• Prepare and coordinate technical documentation and submissions required for statutory and regulatory approvals.


• Work closely with mechanical, structural, architectural, controls and other engineering disciplines to ensure proper design integration and minimise clashes.


• Utilise CAD and BIM software to develop coordinated and buildable electrical design documentation.


• Conduct site inspections and provide technical support during construction and installation works.


• Review contractor submissions, shop drawings and technical documentation to ensure compliance with approved designs and specifications.


• Respond to Requests for Information (RFIs) and provide practical engineering solutions to technical issues encountered during project execution.


• Support Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), testing and commissioning activities.


• Review the technical work and deliverables of junior and mid-level engineers to ensure design quality and accuracy.


• Provide technical guidance, mentoring and support to junior engineers and design team members.


• Work closely with clients, contractors, subcontractors, consultants and relevant authorities on technical matters and project requirements.


• Participate in technical discussions, design reviews and project coordination meetings.


• Maintain strong communication and collaboration across project stakeholders.
  

Job Requirement

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems Engineering or a related discipline.


• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in electrical design engineering, power distribution, MEP or industrial electrical systems.


• Strong experience in LV/HV power distribution, electrical protection systems, switchgear, equipment selection and electrical safety.


• Proficient in AutoCAD Electrical and Revit MEP/BIM.


• Experience with electrical analysis and simulation software such as ETAP, Amtech, SKM or DIALux.


• Professional Engineer (PE) or Chartered Engineer (CEng) qualification will be advantageous.


• Strong interpersonal, communication and coordination skills.


• Able to work effectively with clients, contractors, subcontractors and regulatory authorities.


• Cooperative, responsible and able to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary project team.


• WAH Supervisor and BCSS certification will be advantageous.
