J&J Innovative Medicines Asia Pacific is looking for the best talent for a newly created role of APAC Senior Director Market Access Policy to shape Asia Pacific market access policy related to the region's evolving healthcare systems to ensure support of innovation and patient access to sustainable, high-quality health care. You will proactively shape our reputation and leadership, driving the debate on policy initiatives in the region to ensure a robust stakeholder engagement plans are developed and in place for functional policy shaping (eg with regional / global trade associations).

You will support local policy teams in driving the policy debate via aligned industry activities through collaboration with local, regional and global stakeholders both internally and externally as well as monitoring, analysis and inclusion of environmental trends into business cycle considerations – such as Long Range Financial Planning, Business Planning, Integrated Evidence Generation Planning, and Business Development working with other cross-functional team.

This role also plays a key role in partnering internally with the APAC Company Group Chair and global stakeholders to develop access related policy positions and adaption for the company in supporting/influencing externally industry position development, which is essential to mitigate regulatory and pricing risks and ensure long-term sustainable growth for the region.

You will be partnering with Access and the broader cross-functional teams, in identifying policy issues within and across markets related to our key disease areas and developing strategies and execution plans for addressing in order to enable patient access to our medicines APAC.

YOU WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR:

  • Policy Monitoring and Analysis: Continuously monitor healthcare policy trends and political developments, providing regular updates to the AP Leadership Team to inform strategic decision-making. Anticipate emerging issues of importance to the region, and to develop compelling plans.
  • Holistic Policy Engagement: Ensure a comprehensive view of access policy shaping and government engagement priorities across the region, aligning internal strategy with market needs.
  • Collaboration with External Stakeholders: Lead initiatives to engage industry groups, patient advocacy organizations, and local policy teams to collectively advocate for favorable healthcare policies and articulate a strong industry voice.
  • Strategic Framework Development: Serve as the Market Access policy lead, developing and implementing strategies for value assessment frameworks, public healthcare funding allocation, and reimbursement policies in collaboration with regional teams.
  • Stakeholder Insights: Develop an in-depth understanding of key stakeholder dynamics (e.g., payers, policymakers) to effectively drive policy discussions that align with APAC IM strategic framework and enhance J&J’s reputation
  • Cross-Functional Leadership: Collaborate with internal teams locally, regionally, and globally to ensure a coordinated approach to policy shaping and representation in forums such as the Value Framework/HTA forum and Access and Policy Council.
  • Communication and Advocacy: Create clear and compelling evidence-based advocacy tools, including policy submissions, statements, and other communication materials to support market access initiatives, and work with Communications & Public Affairs team on external reputation engagement through coordinated communication strategies.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Education: Minimum university degree in commerce, economics, international trade, political science or relevant major.
  • Experience in Healthcare Policy: A minimum of 15 years of experience in healthcare policy within the pharmaceutical industry, trade associations, or government, with preference for relevant experience in APAC markets, with solid experience in formulating and leading issues management and government relations efforts.
  • Knowledge of Political & Healthcare Environment: In-depth understanding of the political and healthcare landscape across multiple markets in the Asia Pacific region.
  • Critical Thinking and Business Acumen: Ability to think critically and innovatively, demonstrating strong business acumen in strategic decision-making.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey complex messages effectively to diverse audiences. Strong presentation skills to effectively communicate insights and engage stakeholders.
  • Interpersonal and Influencing Skills: Proven ability to influence senior-level stakeholders and build partnerships across the organization and externally with customers and industry peers.
  • Networking and Stakeholder Management: Demonstrated ability to develop and leverage a robust network of key stakeholders, including industry groups, trade associations, and government entities.
  • Organizational and Project Management Skills: Strong organizational abilities and project management skills to handle complexity and competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
