Job summary

Airwallex, a leading global payments platform, seeks an experienced DevOps Engineer to design scalable cloud infrastructure and platform tooling in Singapore. You will drive observability, reliability, and security for AWX services, collaborating with cross‑functional teams across geographies.

Ideal candidates bring 6–10+ years in DevOps/Infra, strong Python/Ansible/Shell, Kubernetes and Istio experience, and a passion for building self‑service platforms and cost controls.

• Hands-on DevOps engineer with Python/Ansible/Shell experience.

• Operations background with Istio & Kubernetes, traffic management, service mesh architecture.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design of the DevOps strategy and collaborate with cross-functional teams to evolve cloud infrastructure for performance, scale, and security.
• Develop observability and detection capabilities to reduce MTTR and improve stability without sacrificing agility or security.
• Build consensus across geographies on tools and practices and evolve them into standards.

About The Team

The DevOps team has a vision of building a reliable and effective cloud infrastructure for AWX services. They manage K8s clusters for domain services and maintaining its reliability. Additionally, they create and enhance tooling and platforms to empower the engineering team with improved self‑service capabilities.

This role is based in Singapore.

What You’ll Do

• As a DevOps engineer in the team, you will be responsible for leading the design of our DevOps strategy, and working closely with cross‑functional teams to develop and evolve the cloud infrastructure optimized for performance, scalability and security in order to support our next 10x growth.
• You will bring to the team a level of expertise in operational platform management, developing observability and detection capabilities that will decrease time to discover problems and allow our teams to increase stability and not sacrifice agility or security.
• A key aspect of this position will be building consensus amongst DevOps Engineers across geographies in different feature teams about the tools and practices we use, and evolving that consensus into agreed standards.

Who we want to hire?

• You are a DevOps engineer and hands‑on experience with at least one programming language (Python/Ansible/shell).
• You have a software engineering background(Infra/Platform Engineer), and have experience in cost management, access management, and self‑service platform development
• You have an operations background(Service Mesh Istio & K8s), and experience in traffic management and architecture of service mesh
• You are an expert in public cloud, large‑scale K8s clusters and services, Istio service mesh, service registry, service discovery, Infra, and Service Reliability

For Staff level, we expect you to have around 10 years or at least 8 years experience. You should be able to demonstrate more in - depth understanding in the complexity of projects and the design of code systems.

For Senior level, we expect you to have around 6 years or at least 5 years experience. You should be able to solve problems related to coding and system design independently.
