Job summary

Workato is seeking a Senior Data Scientist (OCR/CV) to join its growing AI team. You will design, build, deploy, and improve machine learning systems for intelligent document understanding, handling complex layouts such as tables and forms.

The role emphasizes strong analytical thinking, computer vision expertise, and hands-on ML development for production environments. The position requires experience with OCR pipelines, LLM-based post-processing, and collaboration with product and platform

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's in CS/Engineering/Math/Statistics or equivalent practical experience.
• 3+ years in Machine Learning Engineering, Data Science, or similar.
• Strong Python programming skills.
• Hands-on experience with CV and/or LLM-based systems.
• Experience deploying and operating ML services in production.
• Strong software engineering fundamentals (testing, code quality, debugging, version control).
• Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-moving environment and own projects.

Responsibilities

• Build and improve AI services using LLMs and custom models for production use cases.
• Design, develop, and operate ML/LLM systems end-to-end from prototyping to deployment and monitoring.
• Write high-quality Python code that is testable and efficient.
• Improve validation, observability, and performance monitoring for ML services.
• Collaborate with product managers and engineers to ship AI-powered capabilities.
• Evaluate and improve existing implementations by identifying bottlenecks and bugs.
• Design experiments to test features and analyze results for insights.
• Contribute to technical design and code reviews to raise engineering quality.
• Experiment and iterate on model behavior, prompting, retrieval, and orchestration strategies.
