Job summary

FedEx Express seeks a Senior Data Scientist to apply data science, OR and AI/ML to Air Network Planning and operations. The role emphasizes using existing models and leading AI solutions in GCP for planning and performance analysis.

You will work with model developers, data engineers and business users to embed analytics into planning workflows and produce actionable insights for leadership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in a quantitative field as listed.
• 2–5 years applying data science, OR or analytics to decisions.
• Hands-on with predictive/optimization models for operations.
• Strong SQL, Python, data analysis and visualization skills with BI tools.
• Knowledge of forecasting, analytics and optimization concepts.
• Experience in OR methods: linear/integer programming, simulation or network optimization.
• Ability to explain technical concepts clearly to stakeholders.
• Fluent English, strong communication and documentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Apply predictive, forecasting, simulation and optimization models to planning and capacity problems.
• Evaluate model outputs, perform scenario analysis, translate results to recommendations.
• Collaborate with data engineers and business users to integrate solutions.
• Operate and support AI/ML in GCP, including BigQuery, Vertex AI, Gemini.
• Develop dashboards and KPIs to support management decisions.
• Communicate findings clearly and document assumptions and outcomes.
• Coordinate work across teams and drive adoption through training and support.
• Support continuous improvement in network planning and operations.
