Job summary

Illumina is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to build and maintain a unified data framework, scalable pipelines, and robust data models. You will collaborate with data scientists to translate requirements into scalable solutions and contribute to data quality and governance across the platform.

You will work on end-to-end data engineering tooling and leverage AI techniques to enhance data workflows, ensuring reliable data flow and actionable insights for research and health outcomes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field.
• 6+ years of experience as a Data Engineer, delivering production-grade data pipelines and models.
• Experience applying AI or intelligent techniques to data engineering workflows.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain a common unified data framework for seamless data integration.
• Create and optimize data pipelines for large volumes of structured and unstructured data.
• Collaborate with data scientists and analysts to translate data needs into robust models.
• Develop and maintain data engineering tooling for data ingestion, quality, monitoring, and governance.
• Troubleshoot data pipelines and data-related issues to ensure uninterrupted data flow.
• Monitor pipeline performance, identify bottlenecks, and optimize processing and storage.
• Evaluate and integrate third-party data tools and technologies to enhance capabilities.
• Apply AI techniques to improve data quality, monitoring, or development workflows.
