Job description

You provide professional counselling for MINDEF/SAF personnel faced with mental health, psycho-social and substance abuse/addiction-related issues. Your main tasks involve:

  1. Assessment and implementation of intervention plans.
  2. Collaboration with other stakeholders to provide holistic counselling services.
  3. Responding to operational duties such as manning the 24-hour SAF Counselling Hotline.
  4. Facilitating critical incident stress debriefings for MINDEF/SAF servicemen involved in critical incidents.
  5. Conducting research on current and future counselling-related trends.
  6. Training MINDEF/SAF commanders and managers in counselling-related issues.

You must have a tertiary qualification in counselling, psychology or social work, with at least 2 to 3 years’ relevant work experience. You should also preferably be a registered practitioner with the Singapore Association for Counselling, Singapore Association of Social Workers, Association of Professionals Specialising in Addiction Counselling, or Singapore Psychological Society.
