A Senior Cook is a culinary professional who oversees and actively participates in food preparation and cooking operations . They are responsible for ensuring food quality, adhering to recipes and production sheets, supervising other cooks, and maintaining a clean and safe kitchen environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Food Preparation and Cooking: Preparing a variety of dishes according to established recipes and production sheets, ensuring dishes are cooked to the proper temperature and in the correct order.
  • Supervision and Training: Supervising and guiding junior cooks, assisting with training, and ensuring they follow proper procedures.
  • Inventory Management: Checking stock levels, ordering supplies, and ensuring adequate inventory to meet production needs.
  • Quality Control: Maintaining the quality of raw and cooked food products, ensuring they meet established standards.
  • Cleanliness and Safety: Maintaining a clean and sanitary kitchen environment, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Communicating effectively with other kitchen staff, front-of-house personnel, and management.
  • Menu Planning (Optional): May assist with menu planning, developing new recipes, or determining portion sizes.
