Job summary

A*STAR in Singapore is seeking a Contracts Manager to formalise and professionalise the Programme Office’s contracting function as it scales across award cycles and institutional partners. You will lead the drafting, review and negotiation of award letters, collaboration agreements and data transfer contracts with research institutions, vendors and implementation partners.

Qualifications

Law degree or related qualification; legal qualification is an advantage but not required.
Substantial experience drafting, reviewing and negotiating contracts in research, academic, grant‑funding or biomedical settings.
Strong understanding of collaboration, data transfer and award terms in multi‑institution programmes.

Responsibilities

Lead formalisation of documentation, contractual wording and negotiations across the Programme's agreements with research institutions, award recipients, vendors and implementation partners.
Draft, review and negotiate award letters, collaboration agreements, material and data transfer agreements and service contracts.
Coordinate with the Director, Associate Director and Office Manager to ensure terms align with governance and strategic intent, and with finance for contractual and financial terms.
Liaise with legal counsel and institutional offices to resolve issues and ensure timely execution of agreements.
Maintain a central repository of contracts, track key terms, renewal dates and compliance requirements.
Develop and maintain standard contract templates, playbooks and negotiation positions to improve consistency and turnaround time.
