Job summary

Lenovo is hiring a senior database engineer to design, deploy, and operate SQL Server platforms across AWS, Azure, and on-prem environments. The role focuses on BAU operations, migrations, backups, and security controls while aligning with data retention and regulatory requirements.

The candidate will lead in performance tuning, automation with T-SQL/PowerShell, and documentation. Requires 7+ years in DB engineering and AWS/Azure cloud experience.

Qualifications

• 7+ years database administration/engineering experience.
• 4+ years managing cloud-hosted databases on AWS or Azure.
• Degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field; equivalent experience considered.
• Required: DP-300 (Administering Relational Databases on Microsoft Azure) or DBS-C01 (AWS Database Specialty).
• Advantageous: AZ-104 or AWS SAA-C03.

Responsibilities

• Design, deploy Microsoft SQL Server solutions on Azure, AWS, and on-premises.
• Perform database administration tasks: monitoring, patching, upgrades, config management.
• Manage backups and cloud-native solutions including Azure Backup for SQL VMs and Azure SQL MI.
• Configure retention policies: LTR, PITR, and YTR; maintain compliance.
• Manage TDE certificates across on-premises and cloud environments; conduct DR drills.
• Collaborate with project managers and development teams; participate in on-call rotations.
