Senior Buyer, Procurement
The role is responsible for enabling regional sourcing activities for APAC region to achieve best total cost and quality to meet Symrise mid-to-long term requirements. In this exciting role, the incumbent will help derive and enable the execution of strategic sourcing program which includes key initiatives related to optimizing & harmonizing Raw Materials, sustainability, and initiating supplier performance review to introduce new and/or review existing suppliers who can deliver best quality & costs to the business.
The Position:
Regularly engage Singapore RM Planning & Purchasing to discuss and agree follow-up actions on supply matters (such as gaps, lead time, packaging, MOQ (Minimum Order Quantity), etc) and SLOB (Slow & Obsolescence) matters; specifically, on (but not limited to) Existing/potential issues, Opportunities for improvement, Action plan (including priorities, timelines) and progress.
Ensure available RM supply; specifically (but not limited to) Negotiating and contracting with external/3rd party suppliers for the required volume in foreseeable ordering pattern.
Continuously identify and implement initiatives to improve external/3rd party supplier base supply security (such as approved sources, quality, lead time, packaging, MOQ, etc) and/or TCO, through (but not limited to) Develop Singapore Procurement initiatives pipeline Collaborate with QC (Quality Control) and if applicable IPI (Industrialization & Process Innovation), Technical, Innovation on RM quality issues or potential sources.
Regular review with RA (Regulatory Affairs) to expedite qualification of RM, new sources in accordance with Global AVA (Alternate Vendor Approval), process, through sDMS (Supplier Data Management System)
Collaborate with other functions specifically on (but not limited to) with Commercial Categories/Accounts, Technical, Innovation, on existing/new, FG (Finished Goods), FG “New Wins”, price trend, outlook, qualification of new Raw Materials, monthly review of planed prices etc.
Continuously develop and implement Sourcing Strategies to identify potential saving opportunities and ensure supply base optimization based on the analysis such as analyzing spend data, conducting supply market analysis and managing business requirements
Continuously build and foster supplier relationship such as negotiating and contracting suppliers for the required volume, regular monitoring & evaluation of supplier performance, and identification of strategic suppliers to deliver quality and competitive costs.
The Ideal Candidate:
Minimum Diploma in Food Science or relevant field with at least 8 years of successful track record in procurement or sourcing.
Flavor and/or FMCG or related industry is an added advantage
Knowledge of chemicals and its legislations
Effective (written and verbal) communication and interpersonal skills
Good communication skills to liaise with stakeholders
Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Powerpoint and Word)
Experience in collaborating cross-functional teams in a matrix environment
SAP working experience in Purchasing module
Self-starter, ability to work in cross-functional environment effectively
Analytical, creative and decisive in problem solving, to yield optimal and pragmatic solutions
