Job description

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior BIM Coordinator to join our team for a major MRT (Mass Rapid Transit) infrastructure project in Singapore. The BIM Coordinator will primarily focus on the Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) aspects of the project, leveraging Building Information Modelling (BIM) technologies to enhance design, coordination, and construction processes. The role will require close collaboration with the design, construction, and engineering teams to ensure seamless integration of M&E systems in the project.

Key Responsibilities:

  • BIM Modeling & Coordination:
Develop and manage detailed 3D BIM models for the Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) systems of the MRT project, ensuring accuracy, adherence to project specifications, and compliance with local codes and standards.
Coordinate M&E disciplines with other trades (civil, structural, architectural) to resolve clashes and conflicts through clash detection tools (e.g., Navisworks).
Prepare detailed BIM execution plans for M&E systems, ensuring workflows are aligned with project timelines and deliverables.
Ensure all M&E components are modeled with proper data and specifications to assist in procurement, construction, and maintenance phases.
  • Design Support & Documentation:
Assist in the integration of M&E design systems and coordinate with engineers to ensure accurate representation in the BIM models.
Create and maintain accurate project documentation, including as-built models, coordination reports, and system specifications.
Support the preparation of design and construction documents using BIM software (e.g., Revit, AutoCAD, Navisworks).
  • Collaboration & Communication:
Act as a liaison between the M&E team and other stakeholders (designers, architects, contractors) to ensure effective communication and project progress.
Attend regular project coordination meetings and provide technical support for BIM-related queries and issues.
Ensure that BIM models are up-to-date and reflect any design changes or updates from the project team.
  • Quality Control & Compliance:
Conduct quality control checks on BIM models for accuracy, completeness, and adherence to project specifications and industry standards.
Ensure that all BIM models and data comply with the client's BIM execution plan and local regulatory requirements in Singapore.
Assist with the preparation of deliverables for submission to authorities and stakeholders.

Required Qualifications & Experience:

  • Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
BIM certification (e.g., Autodesk Certified Professional in Revit, BIM Level 2, etc.) would be an advantage.
  • Experience:
Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in Building Information Modelling (BIM), specifically in the Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) trade, preferably on large-scale infrastructure or MRT projects.
Solid understanding of M&E systems design, construction processes, and integration with BIM workflows.
Familiarity with BIM software tools such as Revit MEP, Navisworks, AutoCAD MEP, and BIM360.
Strong understanding of BIM standards, data management, and clash detection processes.
Previous experience working on MRT or similar transportation infrastructure projects in Singapore is preferred.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Technical Skills:
Proficiency in Revit MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing) for modeling M&E systems.
Knowledge of coordination tools like Navisworks and BIM 360 for clash detection and model coordination.
Experience with M&E design software (e.g., Carrier, Hevacomp, Dialux, or similar) is a plus.
  • Soft Skills:
Strong communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with various stakeholders.
Excellent problem-solving abilities, with a proactive approach to resolving design and construction issues.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, ensuring that all BIM data is managed accurately and efficiently.
Ability to work independently and take ownership of assigned tasks and responsibilities.
  • Knowledge of Local Codes & Standards:
Familiarity with Singapore’s building regulations, codes of practice, and BIM standards, including the Singapore BIM Guide and BCA BIM Guidelines.
