Mission Summary:

As a Senior Backend Software Engineer in Map Creator, you will develop backend services supporting the construction of high-definition maps that support our AV’s needs. This includes handling and maintaining large mapping datasets, and collaborating with other teams on the best approach to efficiently access map data.

What you’ll be doing:

• Design, develop, and deploy scalable backend solutions for our web-based map visualizations and editors.
• Write clean, idiomatic, and maintainable code that adheres to best practices.
• Optimize applications for peak performance and scalability to handle huge-scale data.
• Collaborate with machine learning teams to improve ML pipelines that consume mapping data.
• Mentor and guide less experienced engineers and those from other specialties, fostering their growth and collaboration.
• Exhibit proactive initiative and ownership in achieving goals, enhancing processes, and driving innovative solutions.
• Work cross-functionally with diverse teams and disciplines to develop cutting-edge map solutions and achieve shared objectives.

What we're looking for:

• Bachelors or Masters in Computer Science or related field
• 5+ years of experience in backend development, designing and building applications with ASP.NET Core, EF Core, C#, and PostgreSQL
• Experiences in designing and developing RESTful API and gRPC-based services
• Solid understanding of cloud technologies such as AWS and Kubernetes
• Experience with CI tools such as Gitlab CI and utilizing source control tools such as Git

Bonus points:

• Proficient in Python and C++
• Experience in big data tools such as Apache Spark
• Experience in geospatial tools and knowledge of GIS
• Familiarity with IaaC such as Terraform
