Job summary

GrabDefence, Grab's fraud-detection platform, is seeking a backend engineering leader to strengthen and scale its trust and protection capabilities for users and partners. You will help build essential services supporting Grab's digital banking operations and external collaborations.

You will combine people leadership with technical hands-on involvement, defining roadmaps, leading reviews, and guiding teams through complex production challenges.

Qualifications

• Experience leading backend engineering teams and defining technical roadmaps.
• Strong system-design skills with focus on scalable, secure services.
• Hands-on in code reviews and selected implementations when needed.

Responsibilities

• Lead one or more backend teams focused on trust, fraud-prevention, and risk services.
• Translate business priorities into actionable technical roadmaps and delivery plans.
• Drive architecture and system-design reviews for scalability and security.
• Directly contribute to critical implementations or prototypes when required.
• Uplift existing services, address technical debt, and improve scalability.
• Improve engineering productivity via automated testing, CI/CD, and reliable build/deploy workflows.
• Ensure operational health through observability, capacity planning, incident response, and RCAs.
• Promote AI-assisted software development across workflows and platform capabilities.
• Collaborate with Product, Data Science, Operations, Risk, and partners to meet fraud-prevention needs.
• Align with Grab’s digital banking teams and external partners to deliver robust solutions.
• Foster ownership, psychological safety, technical rigor, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
