Job summary

HarbourVest Partners is seeking a self-motivated Senior Associate for the Direct Investment team in Asia. The role involves evaluating prospective investments, conducting due diligence, performing return analyses, and writing investment summaries for the Asia region.

You will lead due diligence, prepare memoranda, and support negotiations with internal and external stakeholders in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.

Qualifications

• 4–7 years of professional experience in private equity, investment banking, consulting, or related field, including 3+ years buy-side investing experience.
• Strong financial modeling and analytical skills with ability to evaluate and present private equity opportunities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; collaborative team player.

Responsibilities

• Identify, evaluate, and execute private equity co-investment opportunities through due diligence, industry research, financial modeling, and management team assessments.
• Prepare co-investment memoranda and present recommendations to senior leadership.
• Lead and support negotiation and closing processes for new co-investments with internal and external stakeholders.
• Monitor and analyze portfolio co-investments, providing insights on performance and exit strategies when applicable.
• Contribute to client servicing, fundraising efforts, and marketing activities, representing HarbourVest externally.
• Train Associates and Analysts, fostering team development and collaboration.

This role follows a hybrid work model which consists of 4 days in office per week. Additionally, you will receive 5 additional remote days per quarter to use at your discretion, subject to manager approval.

We are seeking a self-motivated Senior Associate to join our Direct Investment team. The principle functions include developing opinions on prospective investments, performing due diligence, conducting return analysis and writing investment summaries covering the Asia region.

The ideal candidate is someone who is:

• Experienced, 4-7 years of professional experience in private equity, investment banking, consulting, or a related field, including 3+ years of buy-side investing experience


• Proficient in evaluating, reviewing, and presenting private equity investment opportunities.


• Detail-oriented with strong financial modeling and analytical skills.


• A collaborative team player who thrives in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.


• An excellent communicator, both written and verbal, capable of advocating for investment ideas.


• Able to lead due diligence processes and work independently as needed.

What you will do:

• Train Associates and Analysts, fostering team development and collaboration.

What you bring:

• Strong financial modeling and analytical skills, with a demonstrated ability to evaluate and present private equity opportunities.


• Capability of executing private equity co-investments, including due diligence and transaction execution.


• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.


• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to distill complex information into actionable insights.


• A collaborative attitude, with the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.


• Experience managing junior team members is a plus.

Education Preferred

• Bachelor of Arts (B.A) or Bachelor of Science (B.S) or equivalent experience (required).
