A leading university in Singapore is seeking a Programme Manager for the Centre for Cancer Prevention and Early Detection. The role requires strategic oversight, relationship management, and financial planning expertise, with a focus on enhancing research capabilities in the healthcare sector.
The Programme Manager will be responsible for driving the strategic development and administration of the Centre for Cancer Prevention and Early Detection, a new Centre at Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine (LKCMedicine), Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. This is a role for a motivated, self-directed and outcomes focused professional with a strong background in research and research administration, ideally with experience in the cancer field.
Key Responsibilities:
Proactively lead the development and implementation of the Centre’s strategic development plan in close collaboration with the Centre Director and Deputy Directors.
Plays a key role in shaping the Centre’s long-term direction and impact in the field of cancer prevention and early detection. This includes set clear objectives, identify priorities, establish timelines and ensure alignment with the broader goals of the Initiative.
Develop and manage key relationships with major stakeholders, including academic institutions, healthcare organisations, research funders, philanthropic organisations, government agencies, industry partners and community groups.
Represent the Centre in fostering relationships that enhance visibility and credibility of the Initaitive.
Actively seek opportunities to support collaboration, drive interdisciplinary engagement, and secure new avenues for funding, research and programme expansion.
Identify and coordinate funding applications to funding agencies, partners, industry and philanthropy organisations and other external stakeholders to secure sustainable finanical support for the Centre. This involves the development of compelling proposals, gathering supporting documentation, managing submission timelines and ensuring compliance with institutional and funder requirements.
Identify and synthesise relevant literature to identify key research opportunities and emergeing areas of interest aligned with the Centre’s strategic focus. This includes monitoring trends, breakthroughs, and gaps across disciplines.
Provide and deliver professional administrative and research support to Centre Director, Deputy Directors, Faculty, Research staff and students to facilitate the smooth execution of the Centre’s initiatives, including managing day-to-day operations, as well as supporting grant reporting.
Organise and coordinate events to showcase the Centre’s research achievements and educational initiatives.
Identify novel education gaps and opportunities (and relevant teaching faculty) in the education landscape, with a focus on areas where there is clear market demand, financial viability, and alignment with the Centre’s strategic goals.
Evaluate trends in healthcare, biomedical sciences, and related disciplines to shape innovative and relevant course offerings that address current and future workforce needs.
Work in collaboration with Graduate Programmes, faculty and clinicians to prepare course/degree proposal documentation for approval by School, University, Ministry (where applicable), Singapore Medical Council (where applicable) and monitor approval timelines.
Work closely with internal stakeholders to plan, develop and manage budgets that support the Centre’s research and education initiatives.
Align budget planning with strategic goals, estimating costs, securing necessary approvals, and ensuring resources are allocated effectively.
Monitor operating budgets for Centre programmes to ensure effective financial management, and identify any variances and implement corrective actions where needed.
Provide financial updates, support reporting requirements, and contribute to long-term financial sustainability through sound budgeting and resource planning practices.
Gather and consolidate data from various stakeholders and produce reports, presentations and applications for submission to the School and University, to inform decision-making, and highlight the Centre’s achievements and impact.
Ensure the accuracy, clarity, and alignment of all submissions with institutional guidelines and strategic objectives.
Key Competencies and Educational Requirements:
Educational Qualification(s)
Master’s Degree or PhD in relevant field e.g. healthcare or cancer related qualification
Knowledge Required
Policies and processes covering research and grant administration; experience in applying for research and philanthropic funding
Management of research budgets
Development and administration of education and research programmes
Strategic development of research and/or healthcare initiatives
Relevant Experience
Healthcare professionals’ training and development needs
Background in higher education in a research programme, with minimum 5 years’ experience
Background in research in a health-related field
