Job description

What The Role Is

By 2030, almost a million Singaporeans will be aged 65 and above, and there will be an increased demand for aged care services (e.g. Senior Care Centres, Active Ageing Centres, Home Personal Care, Nursing Homes). However, the care landscape is fragmented today – care journeys for seniors can be disrupted with multiple assessments and administrative procedures, affecting the accessibility of our services. The Sector Strategy and Development (SSD) team (under the Ageing Planning Office in the Ministry of Health) is at the forefront of re-imagining the senior’s care journey, ensuring that seniors can receive seamless and coordinated care, and that service providers are uplifted to play such a role.

You will be leading a team that drives policymaking, planning and implementation of the aged care sector landscape review.

What You Will Be Working On

In this role, you will be leading a team that drives the policymaking, planning and implementation of the aged care sector landscape review. This will require strategic and blue-sky thinking to reimagine the care models and support for seniors, as well as an ability to work through the operational details needed to implement these strategies (e.g. finance, IT/data, planning based on projections, audits and service requirements and transitions).

You will be working in a fast-paced and highly volatile environment that would require the ability to manage multiple priorities and stakeholders at the same time.

You can expect meaningful work that will improve the lived experience of seniors, while growing professionally through developing your policy, strategy and administrative skills.

What We Are Looking For

  • Good tertiary education in any discipline
  • Strong in strategic and blue-sky thinking
  • At least 2 years of supervisory experience
  • Good interpersonal and people management skills
  • Independent and self-driven
  • Able to multi-task
  • Team-player
  • Some experience with the community care sector and public service preferred, but not mandatory.
  • As part of the shortlisting process for this role, candidates may be required to complete a medical declaration and/or undergo further assessment.

Key Competencies Required

  • Thinking Clearly & Making Sound Judgements – Strong analytical and critical thinking abilities to support the crafting of sound policy recommendations; ability to grasp timelines, operating context and ground realities.
  • Learning & Putting Skills into Action - Possesses the drive and curiosity to learn and apply new skills, knowledge and new ways of working.
  • Improving & Innovating – Ability to seek continual improvements, and to innovate and experiment while managing the risks involved.
  • Working Effectively with Stakeholders – Ability to mobilise and rally partners and stakeholders towards a collective purpose.
